The Guide Smith is headed up by Griffin Smith, a Texas State University graduate with more than 20 years experience hunting and fishing all over the world. This business was 100% built from passion and desire to be outside, and a part of nature. Fishing is about so much more than 'catching your limit.' Understanding fish habits, environments, and tendencies is what makes guiding so fun. Teaching techniques and strategies makes everyone on-board a better fisherman and makes for long-term relationships.

Meet Your Captain
I've always been active in sports and being outdoors. After graduating from Texas State University, I spent 10 years in the sales industry to support my hunting and fishing addiction. In 2017, my wife and I moved to Rockport, Texas just in time for Hurricane Harvey to sweep through town. It had always been a dream of mine to hunt and fish professionally and moving to Rockport gave me the time on the water I needed to make that a reality.

My time in Rockport has been spent hunting and fishing mostly solo in preparation for one-day starting my own guide service. I learned to bring the same athleticism and sportsmanship I learned as a young man to the outdoors world. There is nothing I enjoy more than helping people succeed in the outdoors and sharing the knowledge I've gained.
